Health Check™ ...helping you eat well

The Health Check program was created by the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada in consultation with a group of experts from the fields of nutrition, education, medicine, communication and industry and with consultation of the federal government via Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.

Health Check is a way of indentifying foods that can fit into a healthy diet based on Canada's Food Guide. Every food product and menu item in the Health Check program must earn the right to display the Health Check symbol by meeting specific nutrient standards based on Canada's Food Guide.

The Heart and Stroke Foundation Health Check program identifies meals that have met specific nutrient requirements of total fat, saturated fat, trans fats, fibre, sodium, calcium, sugar, vitamins, minerals, protein, and sodium, and acknowledges Yummy Catering’s commitment to providing healthy meals.

The Health Check symbol on the menus means that the product’s nutrition information has been reviewed by the Foundation and it meets very specific nutrient criteria, the (Health CheckTM) symbol and the Heart and Stroke Foundation name is placed on our menus giving our clients and parents the peace of mind that the menus provided by Yummy Catering Services Inc. meets and exceeds the Canada’s Food Guide to Healthy Eating. Choosing Health CheckTM menus will help contribute to healthy eating.
